It is OK to accept a limited number of immigrants from other countries but I don’t think developed nations should encourage immigration for the following three reasons.
First, developed nations should accept refugees first. Refugees are in a very serious situation. For example, since this August, more than 500,000 Rohingya people escaped from Myanmar. Myanmar national army killed many Rohingya people. It is reported that a 7- year-old-child was killed and a 6-year-olg girl was raped by Myanmar national soldiers. After escaping from Myanmar, Rohingya people live in Bangladesh. However, their life is dire. They don’t have enough houses and food. It is clear that we should help these people first.
Second, if developed nations accept immigrants, immigrants will take jobs. In Japan, the unemployment rate is not zero and some Japanese people are looking for jobs. If immigrants work in Japan, more Japanese people will lose their jobs. The Japanese government should help all the Japanese people to get jobs.
Third, immigrants will affect the welfare system. If the Japanese government accepts immigrants, it may have to offer the welfare program for the immigrants. This means that the welfare program for Japanese people may become worse.
In conclusion, there are people whom developed countries should focus on. They are not immigrants but refugees and its citizens. （217語）
