M1: I’ve heard Fukuzawa is going to quit the club. Is that true?
T1: We all expected much from him. I can’t believe he will quit the club.
M2: We were too optimistic.
S1: That’s OK. We should be patient only until new members join us.

I believe that the Japanese government should take measures to reduce inequalities in society. In her 2012 article “Inequality and Growth”, Anne Faerrar claims, “Today, across the developed countries, the average income of the richest 10 % of the population is about nine times that of the poorest 10 %.” Some people might argue that this kind of equality is natural and acceptable in capitalist nations. But I think the biggest problem is that the poverty can be passed on to the next generation. If parents are poor, their children may have to give up higher education. If children can’t get higher education, they will be likely to be poor. This means that poor families have difficulty getting out of the poverty even in the future generation. To get out of the poverty, education is important. And to give enough education opportunities to all the young people, distributing wealth is crucial. As Anne points out (2010, paragraph 4), “taxation” is one of the ways to distribute wealth. I agree with her in this point. In addition to this, to increase scholarships is a good way. If students want to continue to study but have difficulty paying tuition, the government should offer scholarships. We shouldn’t permit the society where the poverty leads to insufficient education. The Japanese government should take measures to decrease inequalities to create a better future for young people. (231語)

【講評】(難易度は平年の慶應経済対比)
Ⅰは標準的な長文読解問題。(17)~(20)は、本文と一致するもの、一致しないものに加え、判断できないものも選ばせるので難しい。本文で明らかに食い違う点がないものは「判断できないもの」とする。

Ⅱは標準的な長文読解問題。

Ⅲはやや難の和文英訳。日本文がかなりくだけた会話調で書かれているので、その会話文がどのような意図なのかをよく考えること。

Ⅳは難の自由英作文。解答欄のスペースから200語をやや超える程度の分量が必要と思われ、高校生としてはかなりレベルが高い。また、本文中からの引用も含める必要があることから、本文の理解も必要。日本の大学入試で最も難しいレベルの自由英作文と言ってよい。

ⅠとⅡは大学入試としては難しい長文問題であるが、ⅢとⅣのことを考えるとあまり落としたくない。Ⅲ、Ⅳの英作文は独学でできるようになるのは非常に難しいレベル。何度も書いて、いい先生を見付けて添削をお願いしよう。名古屋英語特訓道場の家庭教師は慶應経済レベルの英作文も添削します!
