There are many types of inequalities in this world. I believe that social welfare programs are a key to reducing them.
First, social welfare programs contribute to refugees. Refugees are those who have to give up their own country because of wars or oppression. In many cases, they are not responsible for the wars or oppression, which are usually caused irrationally. Hence, it is each government that has responsibility to help them lead a normal life. Unfortunately, refugee-aid programs aren’t sufficient here in Japan. Japanese government offers refugees Japanese language education just for six months. This period is not enough to master Japanese at all. Accordingly, Japan should improve the quality of welfare programs for refugees.
Second, social welfare programs help impoverished people pursue higher education. Currently, some people give up entering university due to its high tuition fees. If such people receive the benefit of social welfare programs, they can broaden their future. This leads to truly equal education.
Third, thanks to social welfare programs, people can access medical aid equally. In fact, all those who wanted to get Covid-19 vaccination were able to get that opportunity. Making all the citizens healthy contributes not only to the citizens but also to the country.
In conclusion, social welfare programs improve the life quality of needy people. This is beneficial to address inequalities in society.
