It is no doubt that protecting individual privacy is crucial. However, in today’s world, it is almost impossible to protect it completely.
First of all, some malicious people may steal personal data by using e-mails and websites. Actually, I receive suspicious e-mails almost every day. If I opened the attached files, my personal data would be stolen immediately. Some e-mails include links to websites. The websites don’t seem suspicious but if I entered my personal information there, it would be stolen instantly.
Second, our individual privacy may be infringed through CCTV cameras. Of course, CCTV cameras themselves are necessities and therefore are installed in order to prevent crimes. However, at the same time, they may record personal scenes. Hence, there are possibilities some people watch and listen to personal information and steal it.
Third, there aren’t international laws effective enough to fully protect individual privacy. Suppose foreign people living in foreign countries steal the personal data of those living in Japan. In this case, no one could punish the criminals.
In conclusion, in the modern world, we can’t protect our individual privacy completely. Hence, we should learn how to protect ourselves. Also, schools should teach students about the way to protect individual privacy.
