I believe food loss and waste has become serious in Japan. Last year, a fast-food chain sold hamburger sets with popular cards. Some people got only cards and threw away many hamburgers. This was shocking to me. To address this kind of problem, as Tabe suggested in 2025, educating consumers is one potential solution. However, education takes a long time. Considering the urgency of the problem, education may not be enough. As Tyenigh stated in 2025, food loss and waste is leading to imminent environmental problems such as global warming. So far, the Japanese government has not done almost anything about food loss and waste. To resolve this problem swiftly, I believe the Japanese government should do something. The government should enact rules regarding the problem. Too strict rules may adversely affect business of shops and restaurants. Therefore, my suggestion is that the Japanese government should offer rewards to businesses or individuals that successfully reduce food waste and loss. I believe this can be a quick solution to the problem.
