I don’t think that smoking should be made illegal in Japan for the following two reasons. First, there are definitely some people who want to smoke and no one can deprive them of their rights to smoke. I don’t mean that anyone can smoke freely in a public area. That’s because secondhand smoke affects the people around a smoker. Therefore, anyone can smoke but in a proper way. Second, the Japanese government can increase their revenues by a cigarette tax. If the government loses the revenue, some public services will become worse than now. In conclusion, smoking should remain legal for now.（102語）

Ⅴは標準的な自由英作文問題。
「喫煙を違法にすべきか」という題材については書きやすいと思うが、理由を2つ以上書くのが難しいかもしれない。思想のテストではないので、理由が2つ思いつきやすい立場で書くのがいい。
全体的に、早稲田の他学部に比べ、語彙が易しめなので、長文はある程度自分で対策することが可能。しかし、自由英作文は独学が難しい。いい先生を見つけて添削をお願いしよう。
