Some people may argue that science can be used in a malicious way. However, there are a lot of humankind’s imminent problems only science can solve. Accordingly, we have no other choice but to rely on science in order to deal with such problems.
First, global warming, one of the most serious environmental problems, can be addressed only through science. Now that a lot of greenhouse gases already exist in the atmosphere, they have to be removed in a scientific way. Also, it is imperative to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions scientifically.
Second, some diseases can only be dealt with scientifically. We have recently experienced Covid-19 pandemic. Without effective scientific approaches, we couldn’t have coped with it and would be still suffering from it. Medicine is intimately related to science. Hence, the more science advances, the better medicine is available.
Third, safer and more environmentally friendly power generations should be developed through scientific research. Power generations we currently utilize have some problems. No one can assert nuclear power generation is totally safe. Thermal power generation consumes plenty of natural resources. Given these problems, we should develop secure and ecofriendly ways to generate electricity by utilizing scientific knowledge.
In conclusion, we need to depend on science in order to solve some urgent problems. Science is our friend, not our enemy. We should use it wisely in order to make our precious earth a better place.
