Japan should do more to protect its historic sites for the following two reasons.
First, people, especially young people, can learn a lot from historic sites. For example, when I was a junior high school student, I visited some temples in Kyoto and Nara. That experience was beneficial for me to understand history deeply. Real historic sites are definitely better teaching materials than books.
Second, historic sites are important tourists’ destinations. These days, more and more foreign tourists are interested in Japanese historic sites. Most of my foreign friends prefer Kyoto to Tokyo because Kyoto has more historic sites. Attracting foreign people to historic sites is crucial not only to introduce Japanese history and cultures to them but also to make Japanese economy better.
In conclusion, Japan should do more to preserve historic sites in order to educate people and attract tourists.
