Although unlawful wildlife product trade was seen mainly in physical places, the Internet has contributed to accelerating such trade. This trend has concerned international aid organizations. As the number of precious animals in rural areas declines by hunting, the residents there have difficulty making a living because they rely on wildlife tourism. To address this problem, governments have designated places where animal hunting is strictly prohibited. However, this may not be beneficial to large animals because they move from one designated place to another in order to obtain food or breed, which means they may be hunted in unprotected areas during their transit.

Freedom of the news media is beneficial to society.

First, freedom of speech is recognized as freedom of speech. Hence, if it exists, this means citizens there enjoy basic human rights.

Second, citizens can have more chances to obtain accurate information. Unfortunately, most of Japanese media flatters Chinese government and doesn’t report problems in China properly. For example, one million Tibetan children are currently forced to enroll in Chinese boarding schools. The children are not allowed to go back to their home or use their own language Tibetan. They have to learn Chinese. Consequently, Tibetan children cannot communicate with their family members. In summary, Chinese government is now eradicating Tibetan culture. This is one of the serious problems in the world. However, Japanese media doesn’t report this unprecedented problem at all. Japanese media is just talking about pandas. Regarding pandas, they are Tibetan animals, not Chinese. Pandas have lived in Tibet. However, China invaded Tibet in 1950s and now insists Tibet be a part of China and that pandas be Chinese animals. If Japanese media has true freedom, we will know the truth about China.

Third, freedom of the news media promotes democracy. Japan has adopted democracy, one of the most reliable system. If the media is dominated by dictators, democracy will collapse.

In conclusion, we need freedom of the news media. It is one of our basic rights, sources of more precise information, and a democracy promoter.
