There are pros and cons about human cloning. However, I think cloning itself is beneficial and that cloning research should be promoted for the following three reasons.
First, we can produce crops through cloning technology. World population has been increasing and therefore we will need more food in the future. However, the crop production may decrease in the future due to the climate change. In this case, crops produced through cloning technology will help alleviate the food crisis.
Second, we can create human organs through cloning technology. If we reproduce healthy organs from the patients who have organ diseases, we can save the patients’ lives. I would like to stress that we should reproduce only organs. If we clone a whole human, an ethical problem will arise.
Third, endangered species can be saved through cloning technology. Today, many animals are disappearing on the earth due to climate change and hunting by human beings. Maintaining animal diversity through clone technology is crucial for the ecosystem.
In conclusion, cloning has many advantages which will improve our lives. However, there may be ethical problems concerning human cloning. Therefore, we have to take advantage of cloning technology ethically.
