Democratic nations should actively promote the spread of democracy to nondemocratic nations.

First, in many nondemocratic nations, people suffer from oppression from their government. For example, in Tibet, people are arrested and tortured just because they promote their culture or protest against Chinese government. Many people give up their hopes and more than 140 people have self-immolated since 2010. Even a 15-year-old Tibetan boy set fire to himself a few years ago. These terrible situations can’t happen in democratic nations.

Second, in democratic nations, there is an election system and everyone has opportunities to become political leaders. For instance, in the US, Mr. Donald Trump, who didn’t have political experience at all, ran for the president this year. The election system is also beneficial in that bad leaders can’t stay in their positions for a long time.

Third, in democratic nations, people can feel involved in politics. People have freedom of speech and can express their opinions freely. Also, the election system makes people interested in politics even if they don’t run for politicians.

In conclusion, democracy guarantees citizens’ human rights and freedom. Hence, people can live more freely and get more involved in politics than the people in nondemocratic nations. Democracy can make a better future and therefore democratic nations should actively encourage nondemocratic nations to think about the benefits of democracy.
